Team Xtreme4 is a Washington, DC based team of four elite cyclists and a support crew of more than ten others who are planning to compete in the 2008 edition of the Race Across America (RAAM). The team is taking on "The World's Toughest Bike Race!" to raise awareness about alternative modes of transportation and carbon-neutral options. By pushing the limits of their endurance, Team Xtreme4 will redefine people’s conception of what’s possible, and inspire others to use carbon neutral methods of transportation. Too often, people don’t use alternate modes of transportation because “it’s just too far” to ride or walk. If Team Xtreme4 can bike across the country in less than a week of non-stop, round the clock cycling, perhaps that five mile ride to work won’t sound so impossible either.
The concept of the race is simple—completing it is not. The 2008 RAAM start line is on the west coast in Oceanside, California; the finish line is over 3,000 miles away in Annapolis, Maryland. When the riders start, the clock starts. It doesn’t stop until the team makes it to the East coast. First team across the country wins.

It takes more than just a group of riders to pull off an event like this. It takes 3 crew members per rider during the race and a whole team leading up to the race. Meet the team that's making it happen:
